Toyota Camry backs up and onto a police car

Back in May, an Illinois officer returned to his car after writing an owner of a Toyota Camry a ticket, allegedly for speeding. What happens after that is still being debated in court.

After the officer returns to his car, the 71-year old Toyota Camry driver selects the wrong gear backs up and onto the hood of the officer’s cruiser. The court and jury are still trying to decided whether the incident was a complete accident or if the 71-year old man was actually that angry that he decided to back up into an officer.

Police in Buffalo Grove, Illinois have now released the dash cam video from the officer’s cruiser.

We suspect this exchange between “the big cat team” and Kiko the cheetah will not be making the Land Rover promo reels, but it should. Here we watch as “that bloke in that car that the cheetah poo’d through the roof hatch on” earns his moniker the old-fashioned way — by catching a falling cheetah choad. With his hand. In a napkin. At this point typing is incredibly difficult, what with the spontaneous bouts of uncontrolled, juvenile chuckling, so we’ll just let you watch for yourselves.

Kia Rolls Out Weird Teaser Ad of Soul Crossover

Kia is gearing up for the official presentation of its new subcompact crossover as in a few weeks time the Soul will make its worldwide premier at the Paris Auto. While the Korean automaker has already released images of the Soul , oddly enough, the teaser advert does not show the car at all. Instead, we see a bunch of creepy-happy wheels bouncing around a larger tire that supposedly represents the Soul. Weird to say the least.

Anybody who wants to know why Formula 1 teams are reconsidering using the Kinetic Energy Recovery System, or KERS need only watch the video embedded after the jump. So far, there have been two incidents of KERS failures, the first requiring the U.K. Red Bull team to make a call to the local Fire Department and the second, as seen in the video, sending a BMW mechanic to the ground. The KERS system recovers energy that would be lost to braking so that it can be reused on the next straightaway. We aren’t in the business of finding enjoyment from the suffering of others, but since the mechanic was basically unharmed, let this be a reminder that high voltage hurts. Yowzah!

On July 1, millions of California drivers had to put down their cell phones or deal with the consequences as a new law requires hands-free devices behind the wheel.

A minimum fine for the first ticket is $20 while a second will run you $50. With court fees added, the first ticket will cost you $93 while the second will cost you at least $200 for the next.
Check out this funny video that shows why we’re all much safer when everyone puts down their cell phones and just concentrates on driving. Actually, it shows you other things you can do while your not on your cell phone that are not illegal but can still be unsafe. Drag Racer Scott Kalitta Dies in Funny Car Crash.

Two-time Top Fuel World Champion, Scott Kalitta, died at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park qualifying for the Lucas Oil NHRA SuperNationals on June 21, 2008.
The first half of the run was normal until Kalitt’a Toyota Solara funny Car busrt into flames at approximately 300mph. The fire had prevented the parachutes for deploying and the vehicle went into a tumble coming to rest at the end of the track.
The NHRA released the following statement:
On behalf of everyone at NHRA, we are deeply saddened and want to pass along our sincere condolences to the entire Kalitta family.
Scott shared the same passion for drag racing as his legendary father, Connie. He also shared the same desire to win, becoming a two-time series world champion. He left the sport for a period of time, to devote more time to his family, only to be driven to return to the dragstrip to regain his championship form.
Scott was a terrific driver and perhaps more importantly a better person and a great father to his two kids. He will be truly missed by the entire NHRA community.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, Kathy, sons Corey and Colin, his cousin Doug, and his father Connie.
